Zen Massage and Wellness LLC’s owner Samantha Young has been a licensed massage therapist since 2008. She is licensed to practice massage by the Virginia board of nursing. She completed a 600 hour massage program at The American Institute of Massage located in Richmond, Virginia in 2007.
After completing her massage program Samantha went to Houston, TX to complete a three month internship at Houston Pregnancy Massage and Doula Care. During the course of her internship Samantha earned over 500 continuing education hours as a Doula (labor assistant) at various hospitals in the Houston medical center under the guidance of her mentor Patti Heimlich. Additionally, during the internship Samantha also earned continuing education hours for labor massage, infant massage and instruction, postpartum massage, and childbirth education instruction. Samantha’s passion for working with childbearing women came after giving birth to her son in 2006. She continues to provide a variety of services catered towards caring for women through fertility, and all stages of pregnancy and childbirth.
Since returning to Virginia, Samantha has worked in various Chiropractic offices, and has come to perfect her therapeutic deep tissue massage skills. She currently works at a local University providing massage services to faculty, staff and students, and in addition she also provides massage services at a local gym as well as a local salon and spa, and she’s also a Soothe massage app practitioner.
Samantha also has experience working on professional athletes and organizations including working on former NBA players, and Irish dancers at a popular theme park. She is also a massage instructor at a local massage and esthetic institute.
Samantha has a passion for health and wellness and believes in utilizing alternative therapies to achieve optimal health.
