You really can do anything. Define and be sure of exactly what you want and do exactly the steps that will take you there.

Why do we know what we need to do yet not do it? Or, know what we should not do and do it anyway? Pain and pleasure. It’s emotional. It’s what we link to the action or result.

Have you wondered why some people are simply fit – they eat healthy, exercise often, and really, possibly even more perplexing, they enjoy it? Do you feel the opposite today and find it difficult to change your eating and exercise habits? Does it seem painful to you to make yourself do so?

It wasn’t long ago that I was in the same boat. I wasn’t mindful of what I ate, although I wanted to be thinner, and exercise was a chore – I had to psyche myself up each time. Today, I can’t imagine life without eating healthfully and exercising regularly.

How did that change? I am not special in this regard – I did what anyone can do and what many have done – I changed what I linked pain and pleasure to. There were steps of growth among the way, each starting with the fact that I didn’t want to be unhealthy and inactive any longer – the pain of not being confident in my body, and the pleasure I associated with tweaking my eating habits and exercise – the pleasure of feeling my body tighten up and look better in my clothing and the feeling of my muscles getting stronger. As I embraced these two concepts, the pleasure became more and more compelling as I saw the results I desired and the thought of going back to my old habits became painful. Habit fell into place.

The same can (and will) happen for you, if you want it – if you are truly ready to make a change. Change happens in an instant. Getting ready to change is what takes the great amount of time. When you are ready, you can make the quality decision that you’ll stick to changing your fitness, your wellness, and your life. Why not do it NOW?
